Wiki4Women India #Delhi #WomensDay
March 8, 2019 @ 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
Only 17 per cent of profiles on Wikipedia are of women. On International Women’s Day 2019 (Fri, 8 March), UNESCO and the Wikimedia Foundation are coming together to work towards bridging the gender gap in cyberspace through the #WIKI4WOMEN initiative.
At UNESCO New Delhi, we are calling on partners and well-wishers to join us as we create, enrich or translate – in as many languages as possible – Wikipedia portraits of women achievers in the fields of education, science, culture, social and human sciences, and communication and information.
The #WIKI4WOMEN initiative was launched at UNESCO Paris on International Women’s Day (IWD) 2018; and this year, as part of the second edition of #WIKI4WOMEN, we are hosting a similar edit-a-thon here in New Delhi. If you happen to be in Delhi, do join us on IWD 2019 (Fri, 8 March) for the #WIKI4WOMEN edit-a-thon itself, as we jointly create online Wikipedia profiles for a range of women achievers across UNESCO’s fields of competence. (I will send you the programme for the workshop separately.) As this will be a completely hands-on workshop – you are requested to kindly carry your own laptop.
