The mounting human and economic cost of Aadhaar

March 29, 2019 @ 4:00 pm 6:00 pm

What happens to taxpayers who do not link their Aadhaar with PAN by March 31?

How can the government use Aadhaar to deduplicate any ID that is issued centrally by another authority, when the UIDAI cannot distinguish genuine Aadhaar numbers from fake Aadhaar numbers?

Why has there been no study by the government on the impact of Aadhaar on welfare schemes? Without a study, how is the government boasting of Aadhaar savings?

Today, March 29, 2019, between 4pm and 6pm, we will meet at Moneylife Foundation to discuss the mounting costs of Aadhaar – both in terms of lives lost and the sheer economics of the project. We will list the open questions that no one in government has cared to answer, and we will send these questions to the candidates who want us to send them to Parliament. If they refuse to answer these questions, they have no right to expect us to vote for them. Join us with your questions.

Speakers include Reetika Khera and Vickram Crishna.
