The critics seem obsessed with the political formula. The latest “big problem” with the slutwalk seems to be that there are no minorities in the committee. I see this as a spontaneously evolved action, planned by whoever was connected in the moment. It is ridiculous to criticize the message because the messengers aren’t structured like a political party.
A supporter of the walk brings up some questions being asked. Please note, these have been raised elsewhere.

@Vidyut Support the cause of #slutwalk. However those pointing to the demographic mismatch between india pop and committee are making a pt. |
“ |
@samas777 only if you believe the current committee will act in some way harmful to minority interests. Otherwise, its nitpicking #slutwalk |
“ |
@samas777 Sure, I suppose it will be better. At the same time, seeing as how getting it done at all is a fight, I’m not complaining |
“ |
@Vidyut Regardless, #slutwalk comm would do well to reflect all demographic shades of India. |
“ |
@samas777 if this goes well, and things get easier, future walks can have elected representatives if someone volunteers to conduct the poll |
“ |
@Vidyut No the problem is many minorities not involved at all. Think message is great. |
“ |
@samas777 right now, it is the doing that is the point. Minorities are missing only if you see women as divided. #slutwalk |
“ |
@samas777 it is a meaningless mindfuck. If the minorities were there, someone would go after tax returns. You know the drill. |
“ |
@Vidyut Also do you think the first walk should go thru bollywood? Seen objectification lately? |
“ |
@samas777 I think absolutely everyone interested should participate. Men, women, kids, old, young, rich, poor, bollywood, train drivers… |
“ |
@Vidyut I will bet you dollars to doughnuts that in a wider milieu, women in india may be divided on method if it is a replica of west |
“ |
@samas777 I’m not interested in divisions and polarizations. If someone takes an initiative, I say go for it for all of us. |
“ |
@samas777 If someone is not interested, they will still gain from any social change that happens. No division. Its society. |
“ |
@Vidyut I agree on your wider point that the message is important for many brothers out there. 🙂 |
“ |
@samas777 That is what we need to remember. If doubts sabotage that, then we’re off track. In aiming for perfection, we enter paralysis. |
“ |
@Vidyut Last pt. Will it pass the mommy test? Sure there will be a generational divide amongst women depending on how far the method goes. |
“ |
@samas777 I think it is about how we share ideas. Dignity is not abhorrent to any woman. I think we need to have Hindi interviews in media. |
“ |
@samas777 Somehow, a large part of our repressed, obsessed male population are unable to think beyond a show of skin. Values don’t register. |
“ |
@Vidyut Yes use of vernacular idiom would go a long way |
“ |
@samas777 I believe they are calling it Besharmi Morcha. |
“ |
@samas777 Appreciate your questions. If its okay with you, I’d like to blog our conversation to point people to for similar questions. |
“ |
@Vidyut No problem. Timelines are public anyway. Please follow if i ever need to DM. Thanks. |
“ |
