Bat of Honor

Morche par kavi is a fascinating series of public awareness events where people gather at the Bandra Bandstand every last Saturday of the month and recite or sing protest poetry related with various subjects. Out in the open. A casual gathering for anyone curious to pause and join in. The subject for this month’s Morche par Kavi is “Midnight’s Children”, in memory of the children who died in Gorakhpur at the hands of a negligent state that continues to evade responsibility rather than fix the catastrophic failures transparently.

What better setting to be aware of our place in a complex world than feeling the sea breeze, performing as countless citizens stroll or bustle or stand and stare in a scenic, melodic event.

Feel free to write your own songs or poems to perform there. You could also recite or sing someone else’s work. Bring along a music instrument to add to the mood. Or come and hear what the others have to say!
