Now Deoband demands ban on Video Conferencing with Salman Rushdie
-
BAN freedom of speech, BAN books, BAN pictures, BAN alcohol, BAN Surya namaskar, BAN Salman Rushdie, We’re turning into a Nation of BANch*ds
-
India was the first country in the world to ban Salman Rushdie’s The Satanic Verses. It’s not enough, eh? Now, ban the man. Retards.
-
Read, and if you agree sign this petition to PM: Reconsider the ban on Salman Rushdie’s ‘The Satanic Verses’ : chn.ge/A2EaE4
-
And what to do about it
-
1.Satanic Verses ban My thoughts subject to verification by a lawyer
-
2.The ban order was issued by Finance Ministry of GOI in Oct 1988 under Sec 11 of Indian Customs Act
-
3. This Sec empowers GOI to ban import of material that could endanger national security or public order
-
4.What the order banned was import into India of copies of Satanic Verses printed and published abroad
-
5.My searches do not indicate there was a supplementary order banning its printing, publication sale , possession in India,
-
6.If my finding is correct, reading of extracts from the book may not be an offence/FINI
-
We R all assuming there is a total, comprehensive ban on Satanic Verses. This does not seem to be correct. The order is probably only partial
-
First step is a public interest petition before a court challenging legality of FIR against those who read extracts.

Instead of thinking of esoteric, hairsplitting arguments, think of a simple way of preventing arrests,I have suggested one way @BDUTT
