Travel sites look the same

I am trying building links to my site. This is something I hadn’t done much before at all – yeah, call me an idiot, but I was more interested in my content and of course, I was clueless as a webmaster. I created my own site, because I didn’t have the money to pay for everything I wanted in it, so I learned and did on my own. Now, my learning curve takes me to link building.

I have two sites, multiple blogs I post in once in a while, and none of them have large amounts of links pointing to them – or at lease links I have intentionally developed. That means, the links are mostly from my signatures which is all wrong, since a link from a WordPress forum, for example doesn’t do much to tell about an outdoor adventure site. :(

Strangely, Google doesn’t seem too bothered by it. I am still on the first page for “adventure Mumbai” and similar queries. Over 60% of my traffic still comes from Google. I guess it will mean the promotion to being first page for adventure India as well if I build links…….? I’m not sure I need that, but I think the traffic will come in handy.

So, coming to my point. I wanted to exchange links. I still want actually, but I feel so repulsed by the whole process. I want to cocoon my website away from the nasties. All sites ranking high for words I want for Wide Aware are those typical travel sites, with flight bookings, adventure tours, India tours and god knows what else. And they all look the same and they come in packs – right down to offers of link exchanges sometimes.

Colour scheme: Red and blue with white backgrounds, or pale yellow to pale olive back grounds. Pictures of some destinations, some tours listed in a box next door, flight booking options, lists of destinations and services…… Very promotional. :(

The adventure related sites are better – and they are the ones I want actually, but they don’t have link pages and stuff, and I haven’t got many replies…… Lets see. I think I’m better off unlinked than linked with garbage. This is just day one, so I think things should look up sooner or later. I have never failed in doing something I really want to do, and I am not int he mood to begin now.
