K went to lie down and I had to pop out to get some additional ingredients.It was on really low so I didn't worry.  But I got delayed.When I got home, the house was full of smoke.  K had fallen asleep.  When it was burning, our cat apparently went into the bedroom and meowed a few times (possibly in warning) but then left again.Burnt chickpeas really really stink. The potful of water had boiled away, and the pot was ruined. It had almost burnt through.Never again!
